6 Beauty Products I Fell in Love With in 2022

Hey everybody and welcome to the first post of 2023! There are countless beauty products on the market – so many that you can feel overwhelmed when you visit Sephora or Ulta or even the drugstore – but every now and then certain products stand out among the rest. That’s what today’s post is all about – beauty products that I fell absolutely in love with last year.

The 6 products on this list shone above the rest for four simple reasons: 1) they worked really well with my oily/combo skin, 2) they didn’t fade throughout the day, 3) they didn’t break me out, and 4) they were able to withstand the harsh, Louisiana heat (that’s a necessity for a Louisiana girl like me). And while some of these products I researched before I purchased, most of them I just stumbled upon. So if you’ve been eyeing any of these products and you want to see if they might be a good fit for you just keep scrolling . . .

Too Faced Born This Way Matte Foundation

This foundation blew me away last year – and it’s still blowing my mind. I bought this foundation on a whim one day in Ulta and to be honest, I didn’t have high expectations for it because I’d given the original Too Faced Born This Way foundation a try years ago and my skin had hated it. But since this was their matte formula, I decided to test it out. Long story short: I’m in love. This foundation is a medium coverage foundation that will leave your skin looking smooth and fresh all day long. It’s lightweight so you won’t even feel like you’re wearing it and it’ll keep your oils at bay. Every time I wear this foundation people ask me how my skin looks so smooth and honestly it’s this foundation in combination with the second product on this list . . . .

Tarte Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay Pressed Finishing Powder

If you have oily skin then you know the struggle it can be to find a setting powder that will keep your oils under control but won’t leave your face looking chalky. I’ve tried a lot of face powders in the last two years but this one pleasantly surprised me. This mineral-based powder is formulated with Vitamins A and E, which help to soothe and soften the skin and allow your skin to breathe. Because it’s formulated with so many good ingredients it won’t clog your pores or cause breakouts. And while I love pairing this powder with the Born This Way Matte foundation, it actually works well with all of my other foundations. You can see from the pan that it has been well-loved.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Nouveau Palette

The Sephora website calls this palette an “all-in-one palette” and I can confirm that it truly is. You can do all sorts of looks with this palette – from minimal, everyday looks to sultry/vampy, night looks. Not many palettes are actually that versatile. What first drew me to this palette was the color story. It has just the right mix of neutrals, mattes, shimmers, and pops of color. I highly recommend this palette and once you get your hands on it you’ll find yourself reaching for it over and over again.

Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer

This is one of those products where I had heard a lot of hype around it but didn’t really believe the hype until I tried it for myself. And let me tell you – the hype is real. As the name implies, this creamy concealer brightens, color-corrects, and covers imperfections with a simple flick of an applicator. What makes this concealer stand out from the rest is that it’s formulated with several skincare-infused ingredients such as grape seed extract, magnolia bark extract, and Vitamin E that help to firm, hydrate, reduce redness, and strengthen the skin barrier. Also it has great longevity on the skin, meaning it won’t fade during the day. This is definitely one of my new favorite concealers.

Tarte Maracuja Juicy Lip

If you struggle with dry lips and you’ve been looking for a lip balm that’s soothing, not sticky, and will leave your lips feeling moisture-filled even after it’s faded this is the lip balm for you. This hydrating lip balm is full of soothing ingredients like maracuja oil, grapeseed oil, and goji that all help to retain moisture and smooth and firm the lips. And while the formula is one of my favorites, what really got me to take a second look at this lip balm was the packaging. The product is dispensed like a clicker pen which I found to be very convenient. Cheers to Tarte for the innovation.

Dior Lip Glow Oil in Rosewood

Another lip product I fell in love with in 2022 was the Dior Lip Glow Oil in Rosewood. I mean, this product stays sold out for a reason. This lip oil is lightweight, nourishing, and moisturizing. Because it’s not sticky or greasy, it’s one that you’ll find yourself looking forward to reapplying. Also, because it’s formulated with cherry oil, it protects your lips from drying which is a necessity for healthy lips.

What were some of your favorite beauty products in 2022? Did any of your picks make the list? Let me know in the comments.
