Halloween at the Pumpkin Patch at Pecan Row

There’s nothing better than visiting your local pumpkin patch, but visiting it on Halloween is next level fun. I got the chance to spend Halloween this year at a new pumpkin patch in Central Louisiana called the Pumpkin Patch at Pecan Row. In today’s post I’m going to share a little bit about my visit.

Open for its second year, this local gem is located at 743 Highway 478, Natchitoches, LA 71457. While you can get to it by taking Interstate 49 (this is how the GPS will take you), I recommend driving along old Highway 1. It’s a pretty and relaxing drive and will give you the opportunity to see all the houses that are decorated for Halloween.

The patch is open Friday from 4 pm – 7 pm; Saturday from 9:30 am – 6 pm; and Sunday 2 pm – 6 pm. Definitely get there early so you can grab a good parking spot. Tickets are $10 per person and they offer a variety of activities to kids and adults to enjoy that include pumpkin picking, a corn maze, a petting zoo, tractor rides, and all kinds of games. My mom and I toured the patch and had a wonderful time, so I know you and your family will too.

Tips for your visit

  • Go in the late afternoon: so you get nice light for photos and a fun transition into evening.
  • Bring cash or check ahead
  • Wear comfortable shoes
  • Bring a camera or phone: The photo ops are abundant — pumpkins, families, the sunset, the maze.
  • Check the weather: Late October in Louisiana can be warm, cool, or rainy. Dress in layers.
  • Enjoy the slower pace: It’s not a giant commercial “haunted” patch, but a relaxed local farm feel; perfect if you’re looking for a calm, fun Halloween outing.
