Even though summer is just for a season, sun protection is necessary all year long. Whether you’re heading to the lake, hiking your favorite trail, or just enjoying a sunny afternoon in the park, sunscreen is your skin’s best defense against harmful UV rays. But not all sunscreens are created equal, especially if you have oily/combination skin like me. From mineral to K-beauty formulas, I’ve rounded up the best sunscreens for summer. With so many great options, there’s no excuse not to protect your skin.

Summer Friday’s ShadeDrops Broad Spectrum SPF 50 Mineral Milk Sunscreen
The first sunscreen on this list quickly became one of my favorites after the first use. It’s called a “mineral milk” and that’s the best way to describe it – milky. Summer Fridays’ ShadeDrops SPF 50 is a lightweight, mineral-based sunscreen that offers broad-spectrum protection with a smooth, milky texture. Formulated with zinc oxide, squalane, and antioxidants, it’s gentle on sensitive skin while keeping your skin hydrated. It layers nicely under makeup and doesn’t leave a white cast or greasy finish. Overall, a solid and comfortable choice.

Supergoop! Mineral Unseen Sunscreen SPF 40
I’ve been a fan of Supergoop for a few years now because their innovative sun protection products don’t miss, especially their Mineral Unseen Sunscreen SPF 40. This lightweight sunscreen offers broad-spectrum SPF 40 protection using 17.68% zinc oxide and 1.33% titanium dioxide as active ingredients. The formula is designed to blend seamlessly into the skin, without leaving a white cast or peeling, and provides a weightless, nourishing feeling. It can also double as a makeup-gripping primer, which I found to be very convenient.

Paula’s Choice Extra Care Non-Greasy Sunscreen
Paula’s Choice Extra Care Non-Greasy Sunscreen SPF 50 is a reliable sunscreen that’s perfect for everyday wear. This lightweight lotion spreads easily and leaves your skin with a comfortable finish that’s great for both your face and body. If you have oily skin, you might notice a slight shine by the end of the day, but nothing a little powder touch-up won’t fix. Overall, it’s a great option if you’re looking for a high SPF sunscreen that’s effective, fragrance-free, and safe for sensitive skin.

HaruHaru Wonder Black Rice Pure Mineral Relief Daily Sunscreen, SPF50+/PA++++
Now for a K-Beauty fave – the HaruHaru Wonder Black Rice Pure Mineral Relief Daily Sunscreen. This 100% mineral sunscreen is formulated with zinc oxide, black rice extract, niacinamide, ceramides, and hyaluronic acid, to help protect, hydrate, and soothe the skin. The creamy consistency of the product provides a semi-matte finish that doesn’t feel heavy or sticky, making it perfect for daily wear. This sunscreen is a solid choice for those with sensitive or oily skin seeking a mineral-based SPF. Its gentle formulation and non-greasy finish make it ideal for under makeup. And if physical sunscreens aren’t your thing, you can also find this sunscreen in a chemical formula in the Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Moisture Airyfit Daily Sunscreen.

Mixsoon Bean Sunscreen SPF 50
The Mixsoon Centella Asiatica Sun Cream SPF 50+ PA++++ is a chemical sunscreen designed to offer broad-spectrum UV protection while also providing a lightweight, moisturizing finish. It’s formulated with centella asiatica extract and lavender oil, which helps to soothe and lock moisture in the skin. It absorbs quickly and blends into the skin smoothly, so you don’t have to worry about a white cast. Made with natural ingredients like wheat sprout extract and fermented bean, this sunscreen is suitable for all kinds of skin types.

Sol de Janeiro Rio Radiance SPF 50 Body Spray
This next recommendation is for all the girlies out there who hate the chemical-y smell that plagues most sunscreens. The Rio Radiance SPF 50 Body Spray from Sol de Janeiro is probably the best smelling body sunscreen I’ve ever tried. Enriched with coconut water for skin‑quenching hydration, niacinamide to even and brighten skin tone, and pitanga + pongamia seed extracts bursting with antioxidants, this sunscreen not only will get you compliments on the smell but will actually make your skin feel radiant, cool, and protected.

Purito Sun Day Adventure Sunscreen SPF 50
If you’re looking for lightweight sunscreen that feels amazing on the skin, Purito Sun Day Adventure Sunscreen is definitely worth trying. Not only does it provide broad-spectrum SPF 50 protection, it feels hydrating and absorbs quickly, leaving your skin with a natural finish. It doesn’t leave a white cast or peel underneath makeup, making it one of my go-tos for everyday sun protection.

Tatcha The Milky Sunscreen SPF 50
Tatcha The Milky Sunscreen SPF 50 has quickly become one of my favorite everyday sunscreens. The lightweight, milky formula melts into my skin without leaving a white cast and feels more like a hydrating skincare product than a traditional SPF. It layers beautifully under makeup, adds a healthy, natural glow, and never feels heavy or greasy. While it’s definitely a luxury splurge, the elegant texture and skincare benefits make it a product I genuinely look forward to using every morning. If you’re looking for a sunscreen that feels effortless and leaves your skin looking fresh and radiant, this one is absolutely worth checking out.

Krave Beauty Beet the Sun SPF 40/PA+++
My last sunscreen recommendation has been one of my favorites for years. It was discontinued, reformulated, and then (thankfully) brought back and it’s better than ever. The Krave Beauty Beet the Sun sunscreen is a lightweight, chemical sunscreen that’s formulated with beetroot extract, vitamin E, and hyaluronic acid, which provides antioxidant benefits and long-lasting hydration. Free from essential oils and fragrance, it reduces the chances of irritating your skin, and is Vegan and cruelty-free. However, because it is a chemical sunscreen, I would recommend keeping it away from your eyes as it might cause stinging. Other than that, this is well-formulated sunscreen that’s suitable for daily use, especially for those with dry or sensitive skin who are seeking a hydrating, non-irritating product.
