🌿 Feel-Good Fantasy
The Rose Bargain by Sasha Peyton Smith
If you’re a Bridgerton fan, but you’re looking for a story with a dash of whimsy and little-to-no spice, The Rose Bargain is the book for you. Set in an alternate, magical version of Regency England, the story follows Ivy Benton as she makes her debut in society before Queen Mor, an immortal fae queen who plays with her subjects by giving them the opportunity to bargain for their greatest desire. With her family’s reputation holding on by a thread and her sister lost in her own world, Ivy joins the queen’s competition to marry her beloved son, Fae Prince Bram. But can she beat the other qualified young ladies she’s up against?
With the unexpected help of Bram’s brother, human Prince Emmett, Ivy finds herself at the forefront of the competition, but the further she gets, the more she begins to realize maybe there’s more at stake than just a wedding and her family’s good name. Perhaps the entire world as she knows it and her sister hang in the balance.

Gate to Kagoshima by Poppy Kuroki
If romantic time-traveling tales are more your speed, this next book will be right up your alley. Set in Kagoshima, Japan, the story follows Isla MacKenzie, a young woman on a mission to learn more about the Japanese side of her family. But her world is turned upside down when a brutal typhoon sends her back in time 128 years in the past, during the time of the samurai. While there, she crosses paths with a handsome young samurai named Kei who helps her learn how to survive in the past. Things are going well until Isla realizes that the Satsuma Rebellion is approaching quickly and then she has to decide: should she try to change the past or let the pieces fall as they will? And should she try to return to the present or stay where her heart is with Kei? You’ll just have to read and find out. This book is very romantic but has minimal spice.

Flowerheart by Catherine Bakewell
If a stand-alone YA fantasy is what you’ve been looking for, this next book should definitely be on your radar. This cozy fantasy follows Clara, a young woman whose magic is tied to flowers and whose emotions have more power than she realizes. When a simple touch goes horribly wrong and endangers her father’s life, Clara is forced to work with her former best friend, Xavier, to cast a difficult spell to heal him. But can she exercise the one thing the spell needs the most – perfect self-control? Filled with lush, nature-inspired imagery, gentle romance, and themes of self-acceptance, this book is perfect for readers who love soft magic, found family, and journeys of healing.

Wings of Starlight by Allison Saft
If magical worlds and sweeping romances are more to your liking, Wings of Starlight will not disappoint. Set in the enchanting world of Pixie Hollow, this story follows Clarion, a soon-to-be queen determined to prove herself, only to find her fate intertwined with the mysterious guardian of the Winter Woods, Milori. As the two get to know each other, they slowly discover that they’re not as different as they appear and that maybe love can blossom between them. But will love be strong enough to keep them together? Can star-crossed lovers prevail?

Thorn Season by Kiera Azar
If you love dark, twisty romantasy with high stakes, Thorn Season will pull you straight into a dangerous court of secrets and political intrigue. Set in the kingdom of Daradon, the story follows Alissa, a noblewoman hiding a deadly secret: she’s a Wielder, someone born with forbidden magic in a world where her kind is hunted. When she’s summoned to the royal court to make her societal debut, Alissa finds herself caught between a brutal yet handsome fairytale prince and a foreign ambassador with a secret agenda of his own. Similar to the Rose Bargain, this book will have you swooning and wanting more.

🌺 Romance for Sunny Days
XOXO by Axie Oh
This next book recommendation is for all the K-Pop music lovers out there. It follows high school junior and talented cellist, Jenny, as she unknowingly meets Jaewoo, a member of one of the biggest K-Pop boy bands in South Korea, XOXO. After spending an unforgettable night together in Los Angeles, Jenny figures she’ll never see Jaewoo again. Fate has other plans and when she and her mother move to Seoul, South Korea to care for her ailing grandmother, guess who’s one of the first people she runs into at school. Jaewoo. But Jaewoo isn’t just any student, because he’s a trainee and part of XOXO, he’s not allowed to date. Jenny knows this – she understands this – so why can’t she stop thinking about him?
This YA book is clean and 100% cute and entertaining. I absolutely loved Jenny and Jaewoo’s relationship and really enjoyed all of the characters.

Kilt Trip by Alexandra Kiley
If a sweet romance with some spice is more your speed, you should definitely look into this next book. Travel consultant Addie Macrae has always followed where her wanderlust takes her, everywhere, that is, except Scotland. But when she’s forced to help a family-run tour company in the Highlands that’s struggling, she plasters on a smile and puts on her best professional face. She seems to charm everyone, everyone, that is, except for her client Logan Sutherland. Logan loves showing tourists the hidden gems of Scotland and the last thing he wants is a hoity-toity American ruining his family’s business.
The two become adversaries pretty quickly but when Addie finds some faded Polaroids of her late mother in Scotland, Logan and Addie set out to explore all of the places her mother visited. Will Logan be able to show Addie that there’s more to Scotland and more to him than she thought?

Picking Daisies on Sundays by Liana Cincotti
If you absolutely adore 90s/early 2000s romcoms, this next book should definitely be on your TBR list. It’s about a young woman named Daniella Daisy Maria, who’s always wanted love. You know, the kind of love that has your heart pounding and your palms sweating. And she’d especially like to find it with her best friend, Levi. But things don’t go as Daniella hoped and she and Levi stop speaking. Fast forward four years and their paths cross again in a crowded bar in the West Village. Interesting. But what makes this reunion even more interesting is that in order to get his dream job, Levi asks Daniella to be his fake girlfriend and date to his sister’s upcoming wedding. She agrees and then begins an entertaining and extremely cute fake-dating trope that will warm your heart and have you smiling.

Edenbrooke by Julianne Donaldson
If a clean Christian romance is what you’ve been looking for, this next book is for you. I actually read this book a few years ago and it was so good that I still find myself thinking about it. Set in Regency England, it follows Marianne Daventry, an outspoken young woman who joins her twin sister, Cecily, at the sprawling country estate of Edenbrooke. While Marianne hopes the visit will give her time to relax, things don’t go as planned after an unexpected run-in with a highwayman. Then she meets the handsome heir of Edenbrooke, Philip, the same gentleman her sister has her sights set on and chaos ensues.

Sense & Suitability by Pepper Basham
Another clean, Christian romance worth diving into is Sense & Suitability by Pepper Basham. It follows Emmeline Lockhart, a young woman who has had not one but two failed seasons on the marriage-mart. She thought she had found a suitable match in Simon Reeves, a handsome gentleman who disappeared without a word.
Simon’s estate and family fortune is in shambles. With debts and collectors piling up and his younger siblings running wild across the estate, Simon needs a prestigious and wealthy wife and fast. Against her better judgment, Emmeline agrees to help Simon find a suitable young lady, but can Emmeline really play matchmaker for the man she’s still in love with? Or will Simon let his desire for financial stability blind him to what’s right in front of him? You’ll have to pick this one to find out.

Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery
No spring book recommendation list is complete without mentioning Anne of Green Gables. This sweet, little story captures the very essence of spring. If you’ve never read it, I highly recommend you read it outside on a nice, cool spring day with the birds chirping and a light breeze ruffling your hair. It will completely bring the story to life. In case you’ve never seen any of the TV adaptations, this book follows a young orphan named Anne Shirley as she gets adopted by the brother and sister duo of Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert to help them on their farm of Green Gables. While the three of them get off to a rocky start, in time they learn to love one another and create a family they never knew they needed.

Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen
The last book I’ll recommend is one of my absolute favorites and a true classic: Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice. While this book is perfect to read all year round, I find reading it in the spring only helps you to appreciate the story all the more. It follows the intelligent Elizabeth “Lizzie” Bennet as she and her family’s quiet life gets upended when the handsome (and particularly wealthy) Mr. Bingley, his sisters, and his elusive friend, Mr. Darcy, rent an estate in the English countryside. Add a matchmaking mother, a headstrong protagonist, an annoying cousin, and you’ve got a story that will make you laugh, make you think, and absolutely steal your heart.
