Let me tell you of a place that offers quintessential Southern charm, gorgeous rolling hills, and a little slice of Americana summer at its best. A place that is so idyllic, it made an appearance in movies like Hustle & Flow and the Hannah Montana movie. A place that makes you feel like you’ve just stepped into a Hallmark movie. I’m talking about Leiper’s Fork, TN.

Start with a Morning Cup of Coffee on a Front Porch

We stayed at the cutest and coziest AirBNB called the Leiper’s Fork Cottage and one of our favorite things to do there was sip a cup of coffee on the front porch. The world slows down just enough for you to notice the breeze, the birdsong, and the soft light of the morning. Whether it’s the start of a busy day or a quiet weekend moment, coffee on the porch is a little reminder to breathe, pause, and soak in the simple joys of life.

Enjoy a Delicious Lunch at Fox & Locke

No Miley Stewart summer is complete without live music. Fox & Locke in Leiper’s Fork is famous for its local acts and laid-back atmosphere. Grab a sweet tea, a delicious cheese burger or a catfish sandwich, and enjoy the kind of impromptu performance that Miley would’ve snuck into with her guitar. We didn’t get to see any live acts during our visit, but the food and atmosphere was definitely worth checking out.

Grab a Bite at a Local Favorite

Some of the best scenes in the Hannah Montana movie is when Miley starts to loosen up and reconnect with the best parts of her hometown. You can do the same by packing a picnic with goodies from The Country Boy Restaurant or Davis General Store ,and finding a shady spot at Leiper’s Fork Lawn Chair Theater. We ate breakfast and dinner at both of these restaurants and thoroughly enjoyed it. You can even buy ready-made cobblers to pop in the oven and bake at the Davis General Store.

Browse the Local Shops & Stores

Treasures abound around every corner: Props Antiques brims with retro toys and Americana is just one example. We browsed around a really cool shop called Patina that had some of the most eclectic products and home goods. After collecting your finds, take a well-earned break at the Leiper’s Fork Market (which doubles as a burger spot under whimsical guitar decor).

When the sun goes down, get in the car and go on an evening drive to enjoy all of the beauty this part of Tennessee has to offer. Leiper’s Fork offers some of the dreamiest sunsets in Middle Tennessee. It’s the perfect time to reflect on the magic of the day, just like Miley would on her back porch after a day of exploring. There’s an old police car parked at the entrance of this little village that’s perfect for taking pictures or just watching the sun go down.
